Modern Slavery Act 2015 Statement

Modern Slavery Act 2015 Statement

Company: Jane Means — Statement published: 22 October 2025

Jane Means is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our business and supply chains. This statement sets out the steps we have taken during the financial year to ensure that slavery and human trafficking are not taking place within our business or supply chains.

1. Organisation structure and business

Jane Means is a UK-based company specialising in luxury gift wrapping, ribbons, stationery and creative packaging. We trade online through www.janemeans.com, supply selected retail partners, and work with suppliers in the UK and internationally.

2. Our supply chains

Our supply chains include manufacturers and suppliers of textiles, ribbons, paper, packaging materials and related printed goods. Supply chain partners vary by product and geographic origin and include both UK and overseas suppliers.

3. Policies in relation to slavery and human trafficking

We operate a number of internal policies to help ensure that we operate ethically and treat our staff and supply chain partners fairly, including (but not limited to):

  • Recruitment and employment policies that comply with UK employment law.
  • Supplier terms and conditions requiring suppliers to adhere to applicable employment and labour standards.
  • Whistleblowing and grievance procedures for staff to report concerns.

4. Due diligence processes

Where appropriate, we undertake due diligence on suppliers to identify and assess risks of modern slavery within our supply chains. Steps include:

  • Assessing new suppliers before onboarding.
  • Requesting details about suppliers’ own sourcing and labour practices for higher-risk product lines.
  • Regularly reviewing supplier performance and compliance.

5. Risk assessment and management

We identify and prioritise risk based on product type, country of origin and the complexity of the supply chain. For higher-risk regions or products we seek additional assurances from suppliers and may request third-party certifications or audit reports where feasible.

6. Training and awareness

We provide training and information to relevant staff to ensure they understand modern slavery risks and our policies. Staff are encouraged to report any concerns through internal channels.

7. Effectiveness and review

We will review this statement annually and, where necessary, update our policies and procedures to reflect changes in our business and supply chain or in response to identified risks and incidents.
